Laboratory

The Student Life Student Health Services (SLSHS) Laboratory partners with University Reference Laboratory for testing not performed on-site. 

• Orders from private providers are accepted weekdays, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. until 1-hour prior to closing
• An appointment is necessary
• Bring or fax the order prior to arrival to 614-247-4791
• Make sure the order includes a fax number for the ordering provider and a diagnosis code
• Test results ordered by a private provider are not available via My BuckMD, requiring the ordering provider to be contacted

Fasting Requirements

Some laboratory tests, such as glucose and cholesterol, require an overnight fast of 8-12 hours.

For the duration of the fast, you MAY NOT:

• Eat any foods
• Eat candy, mints, or chew gum
• Smoke cigarettes
• Consume any kind of liquid other than water (including coffee, tea, alcohol, and soft drinks) and only consume 2 - 3 cups of water during the fast

You MAY:

• Brush your teeth
• Take your medication

 Laboratory Results

• The Laboratory CANNOT release or interpret test results
• Most test results are available within 24-48 hours and sent to the medical provider
• If laboratory tests were ordered by an outside (non-SLSHS) provider, you will need to contact the provider directly for results
• For tests ordered by SLSHS providers, a notification will be sent via:

• Online via My BuckMD, secure message
• By phone 
• By appointment
