Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal condition affecting 5–10% of women.


Common Symptoms

  • Irregular menstrual periods
  • Excess hair growth on the face and body
  • Weight gain
  • Difficulty getting pregnant
  • Increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and uterine cancer

Prevention and Treatment

  • Diagnosis
    A physical exam and blood tests are required for diagnosis. These services are available at Student Life Student Health Services (SLSHS).

  • Lifestyle Management
    Regular exercise and healthy eating can help control symptoms.

  • Medications
    Medications may be prescribed to treat hormone imbalances and regulate menstrual cycles.

  • Nutrition Counseling
    Available through SLSHS to support healthy eating habits.
