Patients are required to visit Patient Registration on the ground floor prior to each scheduled appointment. At that time, patients will verify/update insurance and billing information as well as provide a current insurance card (front/back). The registration process needs to be completed each year and when insurance information changes.

If Ohio State Comprehensive Student Health Insurance or the WilceCare Supplement is purchased, the Patient Registration staff will verify coverage in the Student Information System (SIS). No card is needed.

Claims for patients insured under the Ohio State Comprehensive Student Health Insurance Benefits plan (SHI) or WilceCare Supplement will be processed automatically according to the plan. For benefit details, please visit SHI’s website at

Patients not covered under SHI are encouraged to contact their insurance company prior to appointment to review benefits available for services provided in our facility.

Currently, Student Life Student Health Services (SLSHS) is contracted with:

  • Ohio State Comprehensive Student Health Insurance Benefits Plan
  • Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • CareSource Medicaid of Ohio
  • Cigna
  • Medical Mutual of Ohio
  • NGS/Prime Care (OSU Faculty/Staff Plans)
  • United Healthcare (UHC)

*If covered by one of the above plans, that is HMO-based, SLSHS may be considered out-of-network. Please contact the insurance company for more information.

SLSHS is out-of-network for all other insurance plans including Medicaid and Medicare, with the exception of CareSource Medicaid of Ohio. Contact your insurance company to review available out-of-network benefits. Providing tax ID number, 31-1657245, will help identify SLSHS from other physician groups and medical facilities associated with the Ohio State University. This information will assist in providing correct benefit information.

If an insurance payment is not received within 60 days from the date of service, the amount due becomes patient responsibility. Additionally, any unpaid charges are ultimately the responsibility of the patient.
